Now its all well and good reading what BMW say it does but what do you guys actualy get!

Im a fairly heavy footed driver so my MPG is lower than say what it would be if either my dad or brother and im generally pulling away from the average road pace. I get 27-28mpg on my 7 mile trip to work which is mosty dual carriageways with a fair few traffic lights, its a bit low because the car really hasnt warmed up much and deisel cold arent that good on economy. If I travel at 70-75mpg on the motorway then the car is returning very high 40s and maybe into the low 50s but i dont tend to do that speed much if its clear. My normal cruising speed is between 90-100mph and the car then will return about 34mpg. My LCI car only has 8.5k miles on it so as the mileage increases it may well get a bit better, ive heard these engines need about 20-30k on them to fully loosen up. As i said if its mainly short journeys you are doing you wont see great economy.

 

530D SE I get 36.6 driving without thinking and I don't have much in the way of long trips. 41mpg if I try. 550 to 600 per tank.

Note that the 530d engine has changed quite a bit during its E60 life ('03->).

Sorry that the new (based on the new 520d tech) 3.0 liter 245 hp / 520 Nm engine
is not available for the '09 E60/E61 and E93 cab, only for the E90/91/92 and the new F01.
