To the OP, I hope you would reconsider and just get a beater for winter. A word of caution is that most likely you will not recover any money for all your mods. Most E60 drivers either don't understand the mods or don't care for mods. Your best bet is to try and sell it to a fellow fanatic or put back the original equipment (if you still have it) and sell your mods separately. G/L

I'm gonna go on record for snow tires again. I hate to re-post, but there's gotta be another reason for the OP. My wife and I often joke around that you have to TRY to get off the road in this car when winter tires are equipped. I'm on my 4th winter with the same Michelin Pilot Alpins and they've been great, but I'm pushing it at this point since I have about 30,000 miles on these tires. They say that winter tires become almost useless once they have less than 40% tread left. I haven't measured, but I'm afraid that I'm much less than that (crossing fingers )
I've driven on roads in MN where there has been 16" of unplowed snow during a storm and with caution I've been fine. At a standstill on ice or in thick snow you'll have to press the DTC button (above the ashtray) to get moving, but I haven't had to use that in almost 2 years.
