Question

So I backed into a curb that had a nice 100+ pound decorative rock (which looks so much better now that it's about a foot from where it was originally placed ).
Nobody was around to see me F-up so I guess that's good.

End result, I have a few issues with the lower bumper cover corner.
At least I managed to do it on the side that doesn't have the exhaust.
Obviously there is some missing paint but along the part that is just behind the mudguard there are two places that have what look like dents. (I know... it's plastic).

I'm assuming that I need to replace the whole bumper cover. Someone please prove me wrong on this one... Please... Please...

If I do need to replace the bumper cover:
1. Can I order just the M-sport cover? Is it available in the US?
2. Should I stay with the factory one?
3. Should I brake hard at the next stoplight and have someone else pay for a new cover (just kidding).

And yes... I do have PDC. Don't even ask

Last week I locked the keys in the car while it was running.
This week I back into an F'n rock.
Can't wait to see what next week brings!

The bumer covers aren't too bad to replace, though not cheap either. I looked into the front due to a nice curb rash I gave myself. Primed bumper cover (plastic) from BMW is around $300. Figure another $200-$250 (maybe more in Mass.) for painting and installation. The price quoted was the same for bumpers w/ or without PDC, so no difference there. My curb rash is way down at the bottom and barely noticable (excpet to me of course!) so I have yet to get it repaired. Good luck! I'm sure your dealer has a local body shop that they have a relationship w/ and is familiar w/ BMW body work.

Don't know about the M-Tech bumper covers, though I recall seeing the kit at Bekkers.com. Not sure doing the rear without doing the front as well would look alright. Frankly, it's the front M bumper I like best anyway, but that's just my opinion.

Hey sorry to hear... So far the M bumper isnt sold in the US but some have been able to order it through sources from overseas... bekkers certainly has it but it has be sold as a FULL kit for now.

HEY maybe we can split... you can have the rear and I'll take the front!

Hmmm, One more reason to get the whole kit!
I like the ACS front but not the rear.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Luckily my brother-in-law works at one of the best body shops in my area.

realtyman;

Sad to hear!

My dad did the same thing on out E60 530dA a couple of weeks ago, and I've been at my locale bodyshop.
Our bumper cover is not going to be replaced, but only repainted..

My bodyshop told me that it will cost us $ 550.

Picture of what my dad did:

Tough one realty. While you're shopping, wear the scar and tell the inquisitive that you were doing a No. 4 move on a guy drafting and trying to pass you in the turn. Word will get around not to mess with, realty.

I think you put the ACS bumper over the one you already have. It would cover exactly the part where you bumper is damaged. I'm not a very big fan of the ACS rear bumper either..

Sorry to hear the news realtyman...

Don't you wish PDC would go into "full alert" later than it does?
