high pitch from radio?

everyone once and awhile, with the system on mute or very low volumn, i hear a high pitch noise coming i believe from the speaker system. has anyone else hear this?

Probably alternator noise bleeding into the system. BMWs have crap electrical systems. Very noisy.

I'm getting alternator noise with my iPod when it's running on a cigarette charger.
