The standard system doesn't have the same amount of speakers. The cutout for the center channel is there on every E60, L7 or not. But if you don't have L7 there is nothing underneath...

I haven't heard the latest Levinson system but did hear the Levinson in an LS and it is very good. But on the GS, it looks like it is only available as part of a package, and none of the packages are less than $6000.

Does anyone know of any upgrades to the standard (US) system since the car's introduction. I would swear that when I recently listened to the standard audio system, it sounded 10x better than when I listened to it on the 2004 model. I was listening to a 2005 model, all sounded well. Although the L7 sounded better, the standard wasn't as bas as I had remembered.
