I picked up my car from service at the dealership this morning. Software was updated to 13.1
My left pillar tweeter is back and the sound system is not unbalanced anymore... Thank god!!!

BTW, I had a 2004 330i loaner for a day, step on the gas and that thing flies, light car and powerful engine, nice.

There is an option to turn on and off "RDS" that was not there before. I turn it on but nothing happen, still the station numbers were showing, no "ROCK FM" or whatever, I wonder why.

 

some said because of you don't have nav and sometimes because of the radio stations. if they don't support it, you won't have it :'(.

The weird thing is that it used to work (RDS that is) when I initially got the car back on May, software version was 11.something, then it got updated to 12.something and RDS went away. Now version is 13.1 (According to BMW's invoice) and there is something new, the turn on-off RDS, but so far it does not seem to work.

I thought the latest SW Ver. was 13.3 It may work with the newer sw

It might well be, I really don't know how the dealership decides which version to install. All I know is that they updated the software, it took them a day but I finally got my sound system the way it used to be before the first update.
I guess I'll just have to wain until I get my next update in order to have RDS back, not a big deal after all.

 

i know most likely the newer s/w will solve the problem but have you called and asked your dealer what happened ?

 

RDS check box works fine with 13.3.... check the box and up come all the names.... uncheck it and up comes the frequency

One of my friends just bought 2004 X5 4.4 with Logic 7 and I have to admit that it sucks! You can barely hear the subs in the back. It's possible that acoustic characteristics of X5 are some what different from E60, but I was still pretty disappointment.

I did not think the X5 has L7 , just DSP same as the E39 which I had, L7 is far better than that was, it is not available on the BMWUSA website ,just the 10 speakers

I called the dealer, software version is 13.3
I went back to the car and started playing with the Radio, activate/deactivate RDS, etc... Suddenly, the names started to show, just like magic, everything is OK now. I've set up my presets, I activate RDS and names show up, I deactivate it ans is back to the station number.
I don't know what it was, I'm just happy it works now!!!
