Thumbs up

Hi

Hope someone can help me with one of those intermittent problems that never seems to manifest itself in front of the Service guys....

I have the HiFi speaker upgrade in my car which I guess is the poor man's Logic 7...(!)
Occasionally when listening to CDs (i don't think it happens with the radio) the bass cuts out and then reappears a few seconds later. This is sometimes accompanied by electrical interference type noises in the music playback as well.

Admittedly it tends to happen mainly with bass-heavy tracks, but then that's why I went with the upgrade in the first place: in order to enoy my music

Has anyone experienced this themselves, and if so is it likely to be the head unit, speakers, wiring or something else.

Any advice appreciated, thanks!

Possibly the wire connections to your woofers 1) could be faulty or 2) are not tight. You might check them first before doing anything drastic.

Thanks for your reply.
As far as I can recall, it is mainly downloaded music. Is this significant?

Thanks!

Not sure how easy this will be be as a DIY check, since the woofers are located under the front seats, I think........

I am no audio geek but I believe that there was some method to protect the music from "illegal downloads" I'm sure someone here has more info..
BTW I am not inferring that you did any illegal downloading ,
Good Luck , Cheers

Ever tried to load a "normal" music CD with lots of bass and tried if it is too. If not it is the input - say music. I have the same system in my car and it is a deep and absolutely solid bass. However, my 80GB iPOD is for example not able to reproduce some legal songs such as Usher in the bass region. It is totally distorted on my Ultimate Ears and in the car.

Tried some shop-bought discs too. Same problem occasionally, only at loud volume, and where the tracks are more bass-ey
BTW, my downloaded tracks are all legal, off iTunes

I have the same system and it works fine with all music - downloaded and CD.

Sounds like you have a fault.
