Good luck with that. Let's hope it's minor.

hey guys this is the saddest day of my life. just found out that the motor is no good. that the head or block crack. the thing is that the car never over heated on me. like the gauge that is on the rpm meter all ways had 3 line on it and it never threw any overheat codes. so now i have to pay out my pocket to find a other motor. if any body in this forum as a extra motor let me know asap

holy crap! sorry to hear your misfortune! im hoping for the head cracked, instead of the block... thats one of the pitfalls of aluminum engines, they cant withstand the heat like cast iron. do a mass search on the net. good luck!

Thats what I would suggest, go talk to the dealer before any other shop do any work. With this few miles, there is a chance the dealer/BMW might cover some or all of this out of courtsey... it's well worth the shot.

Good Luck!!

Do you trust the shop that did the diagnosis/estimate? Have you taken it to a different shop/dealer?
How certain are you the shop diagnosed it correctly and not just charging you for something that is not actually happening.
Not saying its not actually the case, just a reality check. Blown headgasket/warped head on a BMW inline 6 with only 62K miles without overheating sounds more like a fairy tale than truth.
