I think perhaps you should skip the 07 CPO'd 530 and instead pick up an 06 CPO'd 550i sport.
There is a 550 for sale in the member classifieds and I happen to know the guy personally, top notch seller. The car is gorgeous and in pristine condition!!

There's a sports button on all of them whether sport or non-sport package

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I know the inherent extra cost of nav, but honestly I hate stand alone units. In an ideal world, I could afford a 2009 535i with the updated iDrive/nav/etc but since that's not going to happen I'm fine with settling with the current slow unit. I'll upgrade in a few years when I can afford it.
I'll be honest, it's really hard for me to pick what I want in the car. This will be my fist luxury car, and I don't want to overspend or have buyers remorse. So far, I think I've narrowed it down to the following:
Must haves:
- Sport package
- Navigation
- Comfort access
- PDC
Nice-to-haves:
- Premium package
- Sun shades
- HUD
- Logic 7
- Remote start (I honestly can't find any mention of this as a factory option)
My one hold up is the interior trim. I really hate the standard wood trim. If I was buying new I'd go aluminum or the anthracite bamboo. It seems like everything on the market in my area has the standard wood, so my options are limited. I'm considering biting the bullet and investing in upgrading the interior trim on my own time, but obviously I'd like to not incur that cost if possible.
I'm curious if I find a CPO that I like if I can haggle the dealer into changing out the trim? Has anyone ever done that?

Also, the Steptronic equipped 2009 550 does not have a sport button. Apparently the SAT-equipped one does.
To me, the Logic 7 is a must have option.

As much as I'd love a 550, I really would prefer the extra HP over the extra year of warranty

I actually saw that post. That is one sweet ride considering all the mods. As much as I'd love a 550, I really would prefer the extra one year of warranty over the extra HP.
I wanna V-8
Another tip - visit the Information Page on the forum and download the owner's manual for your year/model. It'll describe features and functions and make you a better informed consumer.

I have a 2009 550. The 2009 has the updated external buttons for the iDrive but not the updated internal components. My 2009 still has the slow DVD-based nav. The upgraded internals (hard-disk-based nav and better speed) debuted in the 2010 E60.

Strange, Wikipedia seems to disagree http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDrive. Is it wrong, or is it possible some later 2009 e60s had the fully updated iDrive?
