Hi all,
I have some problems with my e60 530 (-04).
This morning, when I tried to turn the engine on, the ignition didn't start at all, iDrive is completely dead and the car does not respond at all when I turn the key.

It now sounds like it is the battery, but, the stereo works fine (radio/CD menu is visible in the LED-display), I can adjust the side mirrors and the steering wheel but cannot turn on the seat heat or PDC.

I had problems with the car last winter and changed the generator, the car has worked fine since then (until now...)

Is there anyone who can help me finding what's wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for you answer,
Yes, I had my foot on the break, even if I hadn't I think the iDrive should be responding, now it's totally out of order.

The minor electronic items you mention as working [radio etc] require very little current. Starting the car or even getting it to crank requires a full and healthy battery. I suggest you start there. Have you tried to use a battery charger connected to the battery points under the hood to see if you can rejuvenate the battery? If it's too far gone that might not work.

I had a battery charger connected over the night, according to the charger the battery is fully charged but the problem still remains. I'll try to connect a battery from another car and see if that helps.

jocke, I'd suggest you to take the battery to any auto parts place (like Autozone or Pepboys). They will LOAD TEST the battery and tell you if the battery is dead or not.

Or if you have the load tester, you can test it yourself as well.
