Speaking of the seat heater distribution settings in iDrive, does anyone think that it actually does anything?
It works for me. I mostly use the bun warmer now in winter, but this fall used it more on my back. The adjustment is very granular in my experience.

I think they work great!

They warm pretty fast, on full strenght (3 leds), but then I usually push the buttom twice
and go in to the 1 led mode.

No ass burns up to date

But I need to say this also, my ol' (3/04') E60 did get a factory recall for seat heaters burning!!!

Heh! Heh! Heh! Good one! I make no excuses for being a wimp. At my age I need all the creature comforts I can get my hands on. In any event, we do get some cold down here, although admittedly not severe and not for long. The cold weather package seemed to be reasonably priced and I've put up with enough cold coming originally from New York and living in Massachusetts for many years that I decided to wimp out and get it.

I had heated seats in my Audi A6 4.2 and heated/cooled ventilated seats in my LS430 before I got my 550i. Never used the a/c in the ventilated seats but used the heat, hence the cold weather package.

My drivers seat had a hot spot that would almost burn. I mentioned it to my dealer who then replaced a section of the seat. Much better now. And the leather colour (auburn) appears to match well with the old sections. This might be related to the recall mentioned in an earlier post.

I haven't noticed any inconsistency in the heat once it's turned on.

Cheers

I think you can get cream for that now.

This may sound silly but could it be that your body is warming up enough to make it feel like the seat isn't as warm as when first activated? In other words, if you warm up to a temperature closer to that of the seat, wouldn't it feel less warm?
I also think this may be the reason.
