Has anyone changed final drive on manual 545 or 550?

My Ride: 2006 550i sport package, manual, black on black w/ anthracite trim, pdc, logic 7, cold weather pkg.
I'm seriously considering doing this and some feedbackwould be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps BMW gets it right on the drawing board and at the factory, so no change is neccessary or of value. After all you are paying a significant premium for this car and they really shouldn't leave much room for aftermarket performance improvements.
After all, 1996 and older models have a LSD and so do all M models.

I'm pretty sure they have fifferent setups.
MT and SMG use same transmission except smg has a module that controls the clutch.
They both share same parts including gearing and rear differential.
