I think BMWFS leases include gap insurance so that will help. Your bigger issue might be the ticket and to what degree (if the ticket stands) it might give the insurer a reason not to settle your comprehensive claim. They would pay third party costs but I'm not sure how it would work if you're given a ticket for negligent driving that in their eyes (and the traffic police) specifically contributed to the accident. I'd really fight that ticket asap. By the way - I'm assuming you don't have runflats on your car? Best of luck with this - must have been a terrible experience for you.
This is exactly what I have been thinking about as well. This definately applies in Holland, if charge is upheld...I would sort out the matter ASAP.

Glad to hear you're OK !

The main thing is you made it out ok.
I had similar experience in my E39. Nothing worse than the feeling when you lose the back of the car like that!

Another thing you should do if you fight the ticket:

The warning message is still in the system. Have your dealer check the error codes. He will se that there was a flat tire warning. And then you have a witness.

Glad to hear you are OK!

The same thing happend to me and my dad (dad was driving) 10 years ago in our E34 525iA, speed was just as yours, 100 mph (160 km/h), and the rear left tire exploded (!!) - a horrible sound came and dad slammed the brakes and manage to keep the car under control.

Scary!! :'(

Handling issues ?? Our E60 is stable as a rock at speeds between 200-230 km/h!
hey, glad to see you are ok!

but i hear that when your tire blows out, your not supposed to slam on the brakes but release the gas and merge to emergency lane

Cops start investigating area and saw tire marks on the road and gras and made a conclusion that I was hauling which I denied. Honestly I was going about 100 mph at that moment so stupid.
Hope the cops don't read this thread because here is your confession. Regardless, glad you made it out OK. Wow, that flat tire message is really scary now.

I'm not 100% sure about this but doesn't the compurter record data for the last 30 seconds continually while you drive? My Lexus manual said something about this.

If they can read the computer and tell that you had a blow out certainly they'd know what speed that happened at.

If they check the stored error messages they will not see the speed, only the messages.

Wow. what a shocking experience. Glad to hear you are okay. Fight the ticket and use the stored flat tyre message in case of need.
