Actually, I have seen all of the preliminary info that the dealers have on the new 3 Series and yes, it is true: the 2006 525 & 325 will have a 215 hp 3.0 liter engine, with a 2 stage intake (as opposed to a 3-stage). It will still have the same magnesium components and Valvetronic, but will be slightly detuned v.i.a. different engine management and a different exhaust.(Dinan, anyone?)
The reason that was given by Jon Shafer on Bimmerfest was that BMW could not get the engines certified for emissions here in the U.S. without raising the displacement. The rest of the world will get the 2.5 liter with the same (supposedly) hp & torque rating.

The NA dealers are getting all the wrong info probably. Jeez.
Only the NA dealers are tlaking about:
550i coming THIS April
3.0L 530i.
I think BMWAG needs to resolve this. Probably a communications issue or something.
What's Dinan by the way?
