If public safety were the primary motivation for traffic speed law enforcement I'm 100% behind it. However, all too often its driven by revenue generation.

Officers have the discretion to make decisions to write a summons or "warn" but it seems that that discretion is tainted by personality or perception ... and I think driving a BMW .... nuf said.

Yes officers do have discretion to write a summons or a warning... however when you are 20 mph over the posted speed limit there is litte to NO room for discretion.

oh pleeeez e60insd, don't tell me you've never taken your e60 over 85 ?? or over 20mph the posted speed limit?
i know i "broke the law" by speeding, but don't we all do it everyday...was my bad luck of getting cought, that's all.
I was very respectufull with the "officer" and cooperated with issuance of liscene, proof and ins, and registration - i did not ask any questions and i let him do the job. That's why i thought he might consider letting me go with a warning for not putting up a fight and argument. Getting a speeding ticket at 7am can be a little irritating - as i said in my initial post, i was just venting.

So pissed right now . ...was on the 405 N, by Harbor in CM doing about 85 and CHP cited me for speeding - was going a little faster than the flow of traffic but the guy had to be a moron and give me a ticket instead of a warning. don't these idiots have a better job to do?? like pull over guys that cut you off, or do 65 on the fwy, or chase down murders...etc..etc...

PS: i know i shouldn't be doing 85 at 7am on a weekday but i just needed to vent - besides, on the e60 we don't even feel the speed until we hit 100+.
I feel brotha!

Just bought the latest Valentine One because I have 3 tickets under my belt right now.

50/30 (but it is a 35mph and it will probably be thrown out because he wrote in a 30 instead)
65/50 (was going 85 reduced it)
77/55 (assh-le)

2 were by NY state troopers. I have a very good friend who says he is my cousin who will probably help me out with those as he usually does.

The 3rd time I came right on .net...and someone sold me there new Valentine one. I believe member Akalius may still have one for sale. Its a very very good investment. Good luck and ALWAYS plead not guilty.
does this v1 really works?

i think i may speed home just so i can call an officer an "incompetent witness" when i fight the ticket in court.

dude, you were speeding...it sucks but you broke the law. you have no one to blame but yourself. the arguement is always "go find murders and rapists and leave us speeders alone". part of his job is catching murders and the other part is to catch you speeding. if hes a traffic cop then his only job is to catch you speeding. im sure you have many different duties at work and so does he. that being said...i have alot of friends that are cops (anyone that has lived in nyc for a long time does) most cops will tell you that cops suck. its the way it is, no offense to any officers on the forum but im sure you can agree that a majority of cops get a power trip when they get a gun and badge and those are the idiots we hate. unfortunatly, like any line of business there are always jerkoffs that make a bad name for the rest of us. i say fight it and hope for the best, gl

I am sure that 99.9% of us have done well over 85 mph.

We just didnt get caught - or didnt bitch when we did.

Perry Mason is in the house! Woo woo woo!
As a law guy, do you have any other suggestions to make an even stronger case, or do you think my method is pretty good?
In my defense, he was actually chasing another similar BMW in the dark, but he automatically pulled me over because he thought I was the other guy. Thank God my wife and son were in the car, so that at least they know the real truth. I had to exploit that angle because he was not allowing for the fact that he made a mistake and kept on saying he was 100% sure he pulled over the right car, so I had to force him to make a mistake in court to show that he CAN make mistakes.
