If you get the newest software your radio will be able to play MP3 files.

I think in June 04 the software was 11.xx

 

I have standard radio and business navigation and 6 CD changer. So if I get the latest software will I be able to play mp3's? if yes - will it only work from the DVD drive on the center console or from the CD multichanger also?

Does the 16.2 upgrade only apply to E60's with the NAV installed? I went the dealership and ask about 16.2 and I recieve this crazy look then they asked if I have the NAV system, and I don't. So what is the deal, I would like to play MP3's in my car but if your are required to have NAV then I'm out of luck. :'(

 

welcome aboard, hintert ! sw upgrade and with or without nav are two different things. i think you should be the one who give them the crazy look <_<. you can always get sw upgrade if you have problems with your car especially idrive and it's under warranty. i think it's time for you to change dealer .

Thanks, what should I do I live in Germany and the language thing (English vs German) we sometimes don't get our point across on what I want from them. I live in a remote area and I don't really know where to find the next trusted dealership. I have yet to see the joy of the RDS system, because most German radio station don't work with it. MP3 playing is not a big deal but after buying one of best looking cars on the market you kinda expect a little more from BMW.

 

i feel your pain, hintert :'(. i, too, live in an island that only has one bmw dealership. most of the members stay here long enough know what kind of service i've been receiving from my dealer . well, good thing is they are getting a little better than before. wish us luck .
