That is way cool.
I thought that BMW assist already sends addresess to your iDrive Nav in Germany, I guess this would cut down on their BMW assist service representative cost and add convenience to the user. Hopefully they'll expand the functionality to other countries.

This strikes me as awfully thin in terms of what -could- have been dumped from the Google maps application. -Just- the address? That's it? Why not realtime traffic, weather, construction, safety cams, etc...?? New POIs?
I don't have NAV on my E60, but I use a small portable TomTom One when I travel (rental cars and stuff). I can do all the above with my solution - the TomTom One tethers via Bluetooth to my phone and accesses the Internet for realtime traffic, weather, construction, etc... I find it far more useful than the vast majority of auto manufacturer systems.
I think VW was/is partnering with Google on their next NAV system. If memory serves, it will be integrating tightly with a live wireless data connection and the maps and POI repository Google houses.

In Germany you can allready send whatever you want to your car through BMW Assist (no need for BMW Online).

I had Assist in the UK used it a few times but didn't bother to renew. The Google Map thing is nothing great at all infact quite easy to do if you know what the protocol that the SIM in the car wants. Anyone any clues.
