So glad you and your are well.....that's the main thing.

Perhaps you should ask yourself if having a 535d or 530d is sensible on passed exposure?

Maybe the same car with a 20d in it.....maybe you won't write that one off!!

I note you have 999 after your name - are you in any way related to the Emergency services? If you are, maybe yo should consider an advanced driving course, the Institute of Advanced Motorists or ROSPA are a good place to start - might also bring your premium down - maybe.

I am quite lucky, my Father is an ex Traffic Cop of 30 years, is still in the force in a different capacity and I thankfully have his training and my advance driving licence - it has proved invaluable. So much so that I have had the Chief Police Examiner of my local force compliment my driving!

Good luck with finding another motor - I strongly suggest a smaller engine.

First, glad to hear that any injuries from this accident will be healed quickly and that you'll replace your BMW with another.

That said, I strongly recommend that you (1) think long and hard [get EXPERT ADVICE] about the sort of tires you use on an expensive high performance car and (2) consider attending a performance driving school that would make you a much better driver.

I've driven BMWs for more than twenty years in all sorts of inclement weather. Only did my own lapse of judgement get me in a situation where I over-drove the car's capabilities.

Be careful out there - the life you save may be your own.

This sounds like a textbook safety line but soo true.

I'm glad OP is OK. Drive safe.

Take it from someone who always drove fast and rushed to get somewhere ... Now I leave early and if it's out of my control I'd rather show up 10 minutes late than in a body-bag.

the most important thing is that both of you are OK. These cars are very tough, but so is your luck for that matter. Do not repeat this type of accident.

I don't know, the car doesn't seem to bad... get one of those 'chips away' guys to work their magic and I bet you wouldn't even notice!

Seriously tho, glad you are both ok.

I have a 535D also and turned off the DCS (not totally off) on a quiet DRY road (with nothing but grass on either side) to see what it did, and the car kicked down mid corner and nearly made me soil myself! the Torque in these cars is immense!

Makes me feel better that should the worst happen in my car I/we will be in the best car for it, weather my fault or bad luck (although I will add I never drive anything but sensibly with others in my car with me).

Good luck with the new car... if you can afford the premium! definitely get an LCI (post 57 plate) as the gearbox is soooo much better!
