Hi Folks,
It is with great sadness i say goodbye to my favourite car of all time. My 535d, less than a week ago i proudly boasted that it had done over 200,000 miles and i would be keeping it until well over 300,000 miles unless i crashed it.

Sadly, yesterday at 7.50 am whilst going around a corner in the wet it left the road and turned over 4 times and i would like to thank it for keeping me and my 16 year old daughter alive. How? God only knows. I have a cut to my head and slightly sore and my daughter has a couple of sore bits.

I will be getting another one.

I should also have learned my lesson because i wrote my 530d off in oct 2008 also in the rain.

here is why i think we were pretty lucky:

Goddamn, good thing the car kept all of its passengers safe.

Geezus, was it that wet on the road, or your tires were about bald? It looks like the car rolled a few times. Did you collide with anything?

I would hate to think what would have happenend in a lesser car. A car can be replaced.

Good to hear that you and your daughter are okay, though a little sore.

Thanks,

When the car was taken to the garage yesterday i had to go and get some things out of it. I suppose the adrenaline and all the excitement of the day, well it didnt really sink in. Got a good nights sleep and went back up today to take my bluetooth cradle for the iphone out and it really sunk in. If it had been a small car with say two airbags it would have been fatal. These cars are wonderful but not so much on the wet roads. However, it was my fault because i know how bad they can be in the wet.

I do not scare easily, last accident the car went through 360 a few times. That was nothing compared to this rolling over the roof 4 times and the smell of cordite from the airbags. Came to rest on its side, couldnt see my daughter for smoke from all the airbags going off. Couldnt get out. Truly horrifying.

There will be a lot of people out there who thankfully never experience an airbag going off. The first thing you think is the car is on fire but in many cases it will be the smell from the airbags. And thank God for them.

Cheers

No thank goodness we never hit anything. My friend is a delivery driver and he seen it happening. He was heading towards me when i came around the corner. Lost it car went over the banking and rolled. There was a truck in front of him and he just drove on and never stopped!!!

10 seconds later and i would have hit the truck head on.

Your times not up until its up!
