actually i have driven both the 45 and 35 since it was either or for me and i chose the 535xi and have it on order. i have driven many bmws, 3s and 5s. This is the first xi for me, but anyways i highly disagree with grogan. and ill put my money where my mouth is when i get my 60 and eventualy when the tt8 comes out no doulbt in my mind ill go for that. but untill then ill stick with my tt6
Unless you want to go into your TT I6 and tinker with the boost, you won't outrun a 4.4l v8 much less keep up with Grogan545 in his 545i.

Any if you do decide to tinker the boost on your turbos, you'll likely walk a 545i after triple digit.

Those who say it are gay, full stop .
I drove the 335i and I felt the engine is only a I6 .
How old are you

These 535 isn't as fast as "whatever" posts are getting old. If you don't like the 535's, don't buy one. The M5 is faster than the 545 or the 550. So what. Be happy that you are fortunate enough to drive any of these cars.

Car and driver got the 550 0-60 in 5.2s after a number of runs, and you got your 545 0-60 in under 4.8s with 35 less horse power and 30 less pounds of torque? Did you forget to mention you had it supercharged? The 535 does 0-60 in 5.4s 1/4 mile in 13.8-14s, compared to the 550 13.6-13.8s. Driving sports cars your whole life wouldn't you say that is a very minimal difference? Definately not 4 car lengths, 2 at best if that. It is statistically impossible for your 545 to be faster then a 550, or much faster if at all then a 535. Sorry champ
solid, do me a favor:

1. check out video #2 HERE
2. do the same in your car
3. compare, and get back to us

the 535i is a beautiful car, but "it is statistically impossible to do what a V8 can do"

all the best with your new car btw !

awesome vids. but you just proved me right. tnx.. 0-60mph in just over 5.4s in your 545. car and driver 535xi 0-60mph run in 5.4s. i dont have mine yet so i cant tell you what ill get mine 0-60 in. but what was that about a v6 can't do what a v8 can do? almost identical 0-60 times. did i miss something here? dont get me wrong i love v8's. im still all about v8's but i have to argue on this. the tt6 is just as good or better. no matter how long any debates go on over this forum about the topic, i dont think it will change anyways views or opinions. so im gonna end it with this, the 545, 535, and 550 are all amazing beautiful cars, and anyone who is driving one is very lucky

You left out the M5! I think it's a pretty good car too.

Two major flaws in your argument:

1) Andy's 5.4 time is to 62 mph (100km/h) and not 60 mph so that's maybe a couple of tenths to be deducted there alone.

2) Grogan545 and Znod consistently had the fastest times, by some margin, we ever saw with the 545. The fastest magazine time on the 545 was 5.2. Both members got well into sub 5 second times - but only after extended practice. Grogan's times were validated at the drag strip. He is the real deal.

Magazine testers quite simply never did the number of runs that these two members put in and do not have the same ability or experience on the 545.

All due respect to Andy545 (and his time is a great time) but like most of us I doubt he's has the practice that Grogan and Znod put in and thus won't quite be at the same level.

To echo other posts - Znod and Grogan in their 545 recorded consistently faster times, over time, than any other member here is likely to achieve in their 550 or 535, provided we stick to stock vehicles.

If you go by car magazines or BMW stats you are correct, but the actual world is a little different.BMW stats appear to be theoretical.all of their 0-60 times are actually 0-100 km times. Also they always show the standard shift to be .1 faster than than the steptonic. The fastest times for every magazine as well as by all owner tests show the steptronic to be consistently quicker to 60 and in the 1/4.This is because there is a gear ratio advantage with the steptronic.Car magazines test a car for 1 day and don,t spend a lot of time with test methods.I spent the better part of 2 years devloping the best method for acceleration tests.I had times from 5.60(poor start and unfavorable weather)to 4.78(perfect start in cold dry conditions)in my 0-60 tests.I don't compare manufacturer and magazine stats.Take your car to an NHRA drag strip to see how it and your driving skills match up to other cars & drivers.

If there are any doubts about the achievements that grogan545 has done with his 545i, please do a search under "grogan545." I do hope people understand that the car is one half of the equation and the other half being driver when it comes to drag racing and achieving optimal times. I have no doubt in my mind that stock for stock, grogan545 in his 545i can beat any one with a 535i.

grogan545,
I'm looking forward to your runs with your new 550i.
Thanks vega for the backup. After breakin I will definitly start testing of my 550.I believe everything I learned with the 545 will allow me to get the best possible times in a short amount of time.I am not sure if I will best my 545 times, but I will try.
PS: I am not foolish enough to take on your E63AMG.Are you still racing your BMW buddies or have you moved on to bigger fish?

They may be gay, but they sure are very skilled drivers!

Also, who said that "fastest" means in a straight line? The both cars to a racing track and compare.
