Default Good Will - best approach?

Recently purchased '08 550. The car is literally just out of warranty, in-service date was 1/8/09 and current miles are 44900, not a CPO. I want to approach my dealer (didn't buy from them, or other BMW dealer) about goodwill coverage for a leaking washer pump and deteriorating rubber trim around front and rear windows. Any suggestions how to pull this off? I've got zero history with the dealer or BMW NA.

You can replace the trims yourself in about 30 mins. Search in the DIY section and I can't help with your other problem.

You'll likely have more luck in getting them to do the "good will" replacement if you are bringing the vehicle in for paid service. Did you just purchase the vehicle from a private seller? Most dealers will do a general bill of health checkup (at customer's request) just prior to the vehicle going out of warranty.

from my experience good-will repairs require a previous positive experience as a customer. Why would a dealer do free service for you when you have given them no business at all and no reason to think you will?

Best thing to do is do these easy repairs yourself. If you think this is not the sort of work you can do I would also suggest you bought the wrong car. BMW service rates will kill your bank account if you depend on them for absolutely everything.

Good luck with that. I called BMW in the hopes of goodwill coverage, only to be told that my warranty expired at 11:59PM, the night before. My car was at the dealership just earlier in the week, and had I noticed a peeling trim piece at that time, it would have been replaced without issue.

From what I understand its normal for the dealer to deny replacing any rubber trim seals as "not covered" under warranty. Not sure if thats accurate, but getting goodwill replacement with no other service at that location will take some work.

Dealers love extra $, so perhaps you can pitch a service agreement to them whereby you pay upfront for so many oil changes etc and they fix your current issues under goodwill. Just a thought.
