I installed Zuchieser rotors on my E39 about a year ago. Well, last month I lost a rear brake line coming out of the Cuyamacas into San Diego which put the entire stopping load on the front brakes until the GF was able to pull over. This apparently freaked out the ABS because even touching the brakes at this point caused the ABS to cycle hammering the front end (no rears) until the GF got it stopped. The good news is that it did stop. Anywy, I have to towed to an indy and had the brake line replaced and system filled and bled. I was half way between Tucson and LA, so the guy dropped everything he was doing including moving several cars around and dropping one off of a lift to get me rolling gain an in about two hours I was on the road gain with a new brake line. Unfortunately, I soon noticed a slight shimmy in the wheel on braking. Dang, I new what this meant. The rotors got overheated and warped. History told me this was bad news if I went to the dealer because they do not even discuss turning rotors, it's $500. bucks, new rotors that's it.
It wasn't real bad just annoying, so I contnued my trip and figured I would deal with it when I got home. Well on a lark, I took the car to Brake Masters first explained what happened and they said they would have a look. So I'm sitting at home fearing the worst, new pads, rotors, etc, maybe 8 or $900., and the guy calls me back in about an hour to come get my car. Said they were able to resurface the rotors within tolerance and everything else looked fine, 60 bucks. Woohoo! Think I'll wax her (acrylic)today.
Ooop! Wrong forum, but brakes are brakes.
