Good Dealership Experience

Just wanted to share a good experience for a change. I took our e60 in to A&L Motors in Monroeville, PA to have the automatic wipers looked at. They were very nice and receptive, considering we bought the car in Nebraska. The SM explained the diagnostic fee and I said that's fine by me! After about an hour he called me into his office. He then proceeds to tell me how clean the car is and everything checked out OK but the sensor for the wipers was not responding. The quoted price to R&I was $480. Not too bad. Then he tells me its no big deal and they will still work on a delay if I can live with that! It was nice to not have parts pushed on me. Now for the best part, he says lemme see if youre eligible for a warranty since it has only 39,xxx miles. After a few keystrokes he tells me no need to buy a warranty, its a CPO! Turns out its warrantied until June/2014! I was elated considering we bought an aftermarket from the dealer in NE since they told us there was no factory warranty left. We got the money back for aftermarket one and are enjoying our CPO e60 even more now! If only that sensor was covered...

The CPO comes with the car .. you can buy and sell the car as many times and the CPO just gets transferred. Likely the dealer who sold you the car didn't realize this, and you didn't too. But a BMW dealer can easily run the VIN and figure out and it seems like you do actually have the warranty.

Unfortunately, none of the electronic components (except the ECU) are covered under CPO. Still, having some warranty with the car is a good thing, that means if anything mechanical fails you are responsible for only the $50 deductible. Not a bad deal at all
