My Ride: On Order as of May 6- 2007 530i Titanium Grey and Grey Leather, with Sport Package, Premium Pkg, Cold Pkg.
2006 Porsche Boxster
The one volkswagon I owned was a mechanical nightmare. Even worse was the way that VW tried every turn to avoid repairs under warranty. They finally are being sued under a class action lawsuit here in the US.

Interesting - they have a reputation here for build quality and service???, would an A3 with the same engine be better
But I dig the A3!

For that price point I would most likely go with a Honda or Toyota.

The GTI is a great car and should be a lot of fun to drive (and a nice change from the BMW).
I have owned several VW and Audis and they were all great cars on all fronts (for what they were, that is).

I saw the C30 in Stockholm this weekend, and I'm really not impressed of that car. The car looks great of you look at it front/side angle, but from the back!!?
I didn't really like the interior either, now when I'm used to German cars.
If I were you I would take a look at Audi A3 Sportback 2.0TFSI Quattro, a 120d with M-kit or a VW Golf GTI (with DSG)

I've been tempted by the GTI for a a long while, well before they hit the US. Just be sure you get a lease in case it rattles too much, and wait for the money factors drop a bit. VW has a good product here, their brand history is spotty
