I've just picked up my used E61 535d this afternoon. One thing I can't seem to find in the manual and hoping you guys can help is - How do I get the screen to display the map with the cars current postion without being in navigation mode?

All I get is the picture of the i-Drive menu at start up it would be nice to have something else displayed as a default such as the map.

Thanks

The only thing I can think of is from lets say, the Entertainment screen, if you select the screen on the right side of the idrive (drivers assistance window) and push the idrive knob - you can select "current position". This will give you street, compass direction, lat & long, and altitude data.

You have to play around with the idrive to get a feel for it - have fun!

You can just go to Navigation on the main screen and select either "Map Facing North", "Map Direction of Travel", or "Perspective View" (don't hold me to the exact wording, I don't have an E60 anymore...)

You don't need to be actively navigating to a specific destination to show the map. Also, you can select map views from the right side screen as well (current position isn't going to give you a map, only text.)
