Don't know, but if it catches on, I want credit. For the general public, I prefer the term Chromophobic?.

But is there a cure?

Now that you have officially named it, it will be about 1 year before it is a protected class and removing your chrome trim to replace it with shadowline will not be tolerated.

Im going to go out on a limb here, but this is how I see it.

- The Average age of E60 owners is probably (and I use that term with the utmost meaning) lower over in the US than it is here in the UK. This is probably, as mentioned, due to cost of purchase, taxation & general running.

- I am therefore assuming (same disclaimer as previous) the younger blood are more into modifying & tuning their vehicles, leading to more US Mods than in the UK.

- However, as there are more E60 owners from the US on this forum, we see alot of mods from there.

- The UK modders, are usually the ones we see on the forum. Where there are plenty of US members running stock setups, off the top of my head, most of the UK members have modified their cars, or had something retrofitted etc. We dont see many UK members (Active members, rather) that have not modified their vehicles.

Just my 2pence/cents

This sounds extremely logical, but lets open this up to... lets say, all automobiles. I still think the US is modding more.

On the whole, I'd be inclined to agree.
But for a tiny Island, the UK has a MASSIVE modified car scene. I know this, because I was/am part of it. Over the summer, there are modified car shows every weekend with well over 3000 cars in attendance at the larger shows. Also, everyone is catered for, there are Lowrider, Euro, Dub, French, German, Jap, Drift, Track, Rat shows/meets just to name a few.
I dont know about the US, but it seems the younger (16-22/23) age group in the UK hit the modified car scene in a big way. I've personally not seen it over in the US, although im sure there is, but it seems most wild showcars are owned as demo cars by companies etc. I know this is detracting from the OP's point, but its all tied in I guess

Most people who own BMW's in the US do not mod them. This board does not represent the typical US BMW buyer.

Craig, those comments seem a bit Chromophobic.
