RPM not required other than to get only RPM Related things - shift points, shift timing, etc. It graphs mpg vs time and I believe has detail in 10mph increments. You can set up special 0-xx-0 runs if you like without doing 1/4 mile runs. I've pretty much convinced myself this is the toy I want. Probably overkill, but I am a gadget man.

I must admit I have not been paying to much attention to the Fearless Forecasts thread, relying more on m5 and m6 boards to track whats going on in that community. I was so far out of the running early on that I started pouting, took my ball and went home
Right, your selection is a very good one. Did your answer above deal with this question: "Do you also get the intermediate times to speed in dragstrip mode?" It's not really overkill. I like the graphs. Do you have any info for me on the hidden menu thread. I posted some new stuff. Thanks. And, shame on you for refusing to play any more.

Hmm, may not have answered that one directly, but answer is yes.
On the hidden menu, I have not tried in ages. I poked around as I was interested in changing the calibration on the iDrive calculated MPG. But I got lazy when I could not do it first time and have not been back in again. Was not looking into RPM or MPH so did not get into that part either. Maybe after I get the meter I'll become more interested in addressing some of those issues.

Thanks cd. I did it. Check out the hidden menu thread. More good poop there, IMO, perhaps alone.

Oh, I will now that others are in there and we need to get some additional comparos. I printed out yours and grogans instructions so I will dabble with it while I wait for the Gtech RR to arrive. I have a suspicion that the RPMs may not work well on the Gtech with a BMW but that data input was from 2003. Probably worse now with the MOST buss, but I really don't know how it works. I am studying the manuals now.

Anyone from Germany knows where I can buy a Gtech/Pro SS/RR or an Escort GT2?

I know znod explained which one is best, but cannot find it right now. Do you have a ling handy?

Also, I downloaded both user's manuals, but could not find if I can change from miles to km...

I don't know about the GTech but look at my post #13 regarding the GT2.

I know Gtech will ship to foreign addresses as long as they are not APO, FPO or PO Boxes.

Hi b i:

I am pretty sure that the GT2 is not the best. But, it is what most of us have been using, is inexpensive, and gives more realdily useful data that other comparably priced meters. A better one probably, for a bit more in price, probably is the Tesla cobradav is getting. The meter thing is starting to take off and be even more fun because others are starting to get interested. As ECU, says, yes on metric With the GT2. Check with cobradav on the Tesla he is getting. Oh, and see what he says above about shipping.

Check this out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Escort-G-Ti...sspagenameZWDVW

Great price considering it retails for about $180-$200. It also says they will ship internationally. The only quirk is that they have the picture of the GT2 and GT1. I would confirm that it's the GT2 first.
