Fuel pump module, not HPFP

Hello everyone,
I am curious to know if any fellow BMW owners have had any issues with their fuel pump modules going out or failing altogether. I am not referring to the high pressure fuel pump (that topic has been beaten to death on this forum). To be completely honest i have no idea what this part does nor have i heard of it before, i am only going off of what my service advisor told me. Apparently the module that sends signal/commands to my HPFP has failed and is throwing a bunch of codes.
My question is, has anyone experienced this issue and was it covered under the extended warranty? My warranty company (maxcare) is closed on the weekends so i have to wait until monday for BMW to get the go ahead to even start service. I am just being impatient and would like to know if anyone has any info on this at all.
Other factors: My car is an 08 535i with 68k miles. I have already had the HPFP replaced along with 4 out of 6 fuel injectors several thousand miles ago. The first indication of the faulty module was an idrive message saying "Fuel pump failure, reduced power, drive moderately." I received this message right after an aggressive take off. The idrive message dissapeared and never came back but after taking the car in for service, the technician quickly discovered the source of the code.
So, anyone know off hand if a part like this would be covered under warranty? My initial thought is that since it is an electronic part it will not be covered but i honestly have no idea.

If you have an exclusionary warranty and this item is not mentioned then it should be covered. What may also be important is the cost of the repair and the dealer's relationship with the warranty company.
Hope everything works out for you.
