For short town driving, that is probably not bad.? Is it stop and go?
The 30 mpg is going to be highway, setting the cruise control at 70mph.
I get about 21 mpg on my 545i, but I am mainly doing a 80 mile round trip highway commute with about 5-10% stop and go.? But, often that is stop and GOOOOO!? I can get 25-26mpg on a trip which is what the sticker says.
Are you checking the mileage with the computer or manually?? My computer calculation is off by about 5mpg (computer is calculating high).
Also, I am sure you will gain a couple mpg over the next 10k miles.
16 mpg mostly freeway? What freeway are you driving on?? You driving in LA?
Something is not right.. you need to get your car checked out. Unless of course you drive 80 mph in 2nd gear.

well since the my SA intalled the latest softare at his shop last Friday (v15.2) my MPG has changed dramatically. ONe becasue i drive it in DS all the time and the cars old transmission software only shifted up to 5th (6th passing 100mph). So finally some corrections must of happen within the air/fuel mix calculations and my transmission (now shifts to 6h in DS plus the car goes faster ). I'm averagin 20.5 in city 9hard stops and har starts ) and about 24 to 25 in hwy..again very inspired driving..
This was one reason why I bought a 545 instead of a 530. IMHO, the 530 - especially w/a stick tranny - just has to work the engine too hard. At least where I live, where there is a lot of varied terrain - going from flat to hilly.
On the highway my 545 gets in the mid 20's. So, I sacrifice some highway mpg, but my city mpg is as good as or better than a 530.
Now, if only we could get the 530d and 535d over here in the States.....
