is there a leak on your car from rear main seal?
That seal is even more difficult to replace; trans will need to be unbolted.

No oil leaks of any kind yet. Except my lower control arm bushings leaked out and I still haven't changed them. My garage floor is epoxy painted, so I don't miss any fluid that makes it out of the underbody shield. Some weeping on the bottom of the engine, but what you would expect for a 10 year old car. Still on my original clutch, although I only have mid-60K miles. I'm thinking that when the time comes for a new clutch, I'll replace the clutch, flywheel and rear main seal. Was planning on replacing my MT gear oil and transfer case fluid this summer. Maybe differential too. Probably also power steering fluid. Car is due for brake fluid anyway.

It does not look like it's for N52 engine...

I now have four different seal removal tools from that one job, and only one will work.
Would you please give us a link to the one that works?

This page BMW Tools - any tool for Service and Repair of BMW, do a search of the page on Crankshaft Seal.

the Bentley manual calls for the same tool for both N52 and N54 engine. Worked on mine.
