The front pulley is removed by taking off the 6 little bolts with the torx heads. Do not touch the big center nut. All is done with hand tools, no power tool needed.

I admit that all the front seals I have replaced have been on V8's. For those the front hub has to come off. The hub bolt has over 300 ft-lbs of torque on it...thus you have to hold the crank. To remove the seal, I run a couple of small sheet metal screws into the metal part of the seal and use the screws to then pry the seal out.

Well, that is a different design.

The V8 seals, have a metal front face where a metal screw will hold and can be levered off. The N52/54 seal has a hardened rubber face, and there is not enough integrity to use a metal screw. You need a proper tool.

Are you saying it is worthless? Or you don't know? I think I came across this having seen some youtube video of someone do a front main seal using this or similar design.

twh, what yelcab is saying is that he has used that tool and couple of other similar tools and they DON'T work. Supposedly these are original design. He is saying that he bought an improved version of that tool that actually works.

Ok, got it. I'll wait for the post of the tool that works good. Need to file that away and hope I don't need to ever buy one
