Should have read this thread earlier; actually I did but ignored it. This evening I let my brother in law drive my 550i which is still in the breaking period. Well, he got a little carried away and it hit 6000 rpm. I'm not really that concerned as I have been pretty good and have over 800 miles on the car now. My brother in law drives an older 540 and I don't think he was trying to rev the engine. I had it in sport mode and it just happens so fast.

Nah... no problem... I say rev it up 2 or 3 times after 800 miles ish and let the engine see what there is to come... I personally think thats better for the engine. As long as its all warmed up.

Nothing says "I shouldn't be allowed to drive" better than a single car accident. Especially when you are driving someone elses car. No offense but your friend is an idiot.
