Unless you test it out. I mentioned that in a thread (link on page 2).
I had to prove to myself that it was actually activated as it was enabled by my dealer as it was a 2003 built car.

They fold back out when you unlock it. I had this re-programming done 3 weeks ago in the UK.
I think this function should be enabled by default if you specify the folding mirror option... There's no downside in the option!?

It should be a changeable option in iDrive but the simplification done on the 5-series may explain why it's not there...

Cool feature and I use it lots These remote functions really impress other people... (Including the boot release)

yes mine is now working when you lock car they fold in and when you open car they fold out and yes it should be on the idrive i had a merce320d and it was available to me from the steering wheel. The reason i like this is that it gives you a good visual method of checking if your car is locked look across the drive, are mirrors folded in then car is locked

Can you tell me what you or your dealer did to get the mirrors to fold on locking. I would like to see if I can get it done on mine.

It's one of the settings your dealer can adjust. Just like DRL's. He should know, or at least can find out how to activate it.
You have to press and hold down the lock button on the remote until the mirrors start folding. If you then release and press another time, the interior sensor of your alarm system (if you have this option) will be switched off... So only press and hold it once.
That only works if the dealer activated it, and if you have folding mirrors.

I pick up my new 530i on Saturday and want the dealer to configure the mirrors to fold when the I lock by remote. They say they can do this, but they won't be able to return to their normal position when I unlock, without having to hit the internal switch. This doesn't sound right? Can you tell me what was done to get this last part of the puzzle working?
