I went and bought some Eagle One Keep Clean Wheel Protector from Wal-Mart that didn't cut the mustard. I then decided to get the WheelWax ($20 US) and that did the trick! Thanks for the suggestion.

I also had the break dust problem and one day when there was time to change the pads because they were worn i ordered pads from FCP Groton based on the salesman recommendation and these are unbelievable, no break dust at all. i think i paid $98 for the front set and they work great too. i/ve had them on my 2001 540i, later on 2004 525i and now on 2005 545i

Waxing the rims will definitely help in the removal. Also try and keep the tire gook, well I call it gook, off the rims. Most guys spray the wet stuff on their tires and rims. The dust will sit on that stuff and if you not diligent about cleaning, it can be a real bear.

Michael should be pimping whatever solution he sent to me a couple weeks ago. With the car cold I spray this stuff on a dirty rim and wash off immediately. It's like pure frickin magic. So much so that my wife and neighbor were both impressed (which is saying more than you know ).
