Ok The HDD blows cause it only holds 12GB of music, but as far as plugging in a 32gb hdd for example
Some people say it takes a very long time to index songs each and every time you start up car before being able to listen to them
other people say it only catalogs them the first time, and then loads very quickly every time in the future.
Does anyone have any information on how this can be different for different e60 drivers?
mine is a 2010, and this music is driving me crazy.. USB takes long to load
no one in this forum seems ot know how to add larger internal HDD
and i dont like the ipod interface at all
2010 e60 xi

My car is an '07, so I'm not fully familiar with your system. However, I think my first question would be why did BMW specify a 12GB drive? Perhaps it was a performance trade off at the time. A larger drive would have been too slow to index etc.
Can you pull the drive and check it's specs? If it's a traditional HDD perhaps you could replace it with a larger SSD and you would get the functionality and performance you want. You should proceed with caution, however; perhaps BMW is using that drive as more than just a storage device for your music (and that's why the storage capacity is only 12 gig). Good luck!

I think Dension would be a downgrade since he has CIC already. I know the newer versions of CIC have a bigger hdd. See if one of the vendors that offer CIC retrofits offer a bigger hdd option.

yea, but he says he doesn't like the ipod interface in CIC. I didn't think it was that bad, but if you're not happy with CIC then aftermarket is something to consider.
