Well it happened, first mark after 15 months of ownership. Was parking this morning and I didn't see a small curb (approx 4 feet long) from the entrance of the parking lot. I was parking at an end spot (as usual putting my right side wheels on the yellow - no lane next to me nor right hand obstruction or curb. Trouble was the entrance curb (stupid design) was masked by dirt and the morning haze.

Scratched the lower part of the right fender (12 inch gash 3 inch from the bottom) and 2 inch chip in the right front rim as well. What a bummer. A $500 morning parking fee or 200 Starbucks coffees.

Given I was going around 5mph, is there a chance the front suspension is damaged or the alignment is thrown off?

In my younger days I would have cried and taken the whole day off work.

Look on the bright side.

Here, $500 would buy you only 100 Starbucks coffees.

Ugh. Bummer. Too bad PDC doesn't help in these kind of situations.

Oh well, fixing the bumper and patching the wheel scrape won't be too big of a deal .. say compared to the same scrape on a door panel.

I too feel your pain. Mine was a minor fender bender - I rolled into the car in front of me while waiting to make a turn into traffic from my housing subdivision. My fault all the way, but I thought he had made the turn and I was looking at the on-coming traffic. Scratches on my right front bumper and his left rear. His was a 1997 528i. About $550 to repair it.

its not that bad, but sorry to hear that man. i got my first curb rash at best buy at lakewood mall. i was exiting the parking lot and some truck was speeding in taking up the whole entrance so i swerved to avoid it and hit the curb. just my rims suffered really badly and i had it fixed that week. parked my e60 on the right side of the garage so my parents wouldnt notice that i had my spare on haha. ive always been extra careful since then, and i never let it happen again. *knock on wood*

anyone have a good suggestion for curb rash; I just ripped mine apart parking last week - like 6 inches around tire - figured would upgrade to 19" but if easy to fix, much better. let me know?

your dealer may offer wheel repairs, well mine does. if not, find a wheel shop close to you. they would send it out for one day to be repaired and youll have it back on your car usually the 2nd day after you gave it to them. i think it usually runs for about $150 per wheel. good luck.
