Default Fan noise

Hey; 2008 BMW 535xi. When fan is on, (even @ the lowest setting), there is a humming/whirling noise. Turn the fan off, the noise goes away. Any ideas what this could be, &/or how to fix it. Thanks...

Maybe the AC compressor. Turn off the snowflake button if it's on. Mine has a faint noise that comes and goes, but disappears if the AC button is off.

You're talking about the blower motor I guess? Then it's the blower motor and not the ac compressor of course. Even if there is an influence of temperature (ac on/off) it's still the blower motor.
Make it through the winter if possible, sometimes it will go away forever after a winter/summer cycle ... or change it.

It seemed obvious it was/is the blower motor, however, you never know. I read a post where someone said fan noise can be the water pump going bad. Already watched a diy video of a guy replacing a blower motor, a lot of disassembling the bottom dash, radio, shifter, center console. Quite the job...so it seems. I can't imagine the labor cost a dealer would charge!

The fan (in front of the car for cooling purpose) isn't the same like the blower motor. No water pump created a blower motor noise ever.

... and no E6x owner should visit the BMW dealer these days . It's a DIY car, isn't it?
