I own a '04 E60 530i. It has 34,000 miles and while I've had a couple issues (heater core, water pump) it's been a great car.

After the heater core was replaced, I began to hear a noise from the heater/AC fan. It happens when the AC is on Max or Auto on a hot day. The noise is a rapid chirping noise. The noise goes away when I turn off the fan. It gets worse when I turn the wheel to the left and goes away when I turn right.

The dealer took the car and proudly announced it was a brake issues, covered by a TSB (a part redesign). About 6 minutes after hitting the freeway, the sound returned.

Anyone have any thought on this issue? My searches didn't find this specific issue.

Also - anyone think it's odd for the heater core to fail on a $50,000 car at very low miles?

Thanks for your help. Love this forum.

Take a look at SIB below. Some 545's have a problematic AC compressor pulley.

The SIB concerning the rattling, squealing or ticking AC compressor is SIB 641406.
It may apply to your car. You can view it at the address bellow.

Great - thanks for that. I'll run that buy my dealer. It's hard to believe a car with very low miles would have a heater core, water pump and AC unit all replaced before 37k miles.

Dealer replaced AC compressor on my 2004 545 at approximately 35K miles.
