My Ride: 545i SMG with Limited Slip Differential

Good morning guys and sorry for disturbing.

BMW doesn't want to give me my FA file (or VO file). Not the dealer, because they asked BMW. And BMW didn't give it.

So I'm trying to rebuilt mine from infos I found till now, replacing codes of the other car with mines.

If someone has his file, can he send me a PM?

I am comparing a VO file of another car with my list of optionals and more info I find more possibilities of success I will have.
If someone working in BMW or similar pls PM me.

The reason is now I have the last Progman, heated steering wheel installed and I would need this file to add <option>248</option> and enable the steering.

I know the dealer can print the VO file or anyway a list of option... Could I solve my problem with the printing, replacing all codes in my friend's file? What exactly can they print?

In some days/weeks a new Progman will be released and if I will want to enable the steering I will have to update Progman again. And the dealer will charge ?100-150e again.

I'm starting to hate BMW.. As those believer who believe but hate priests.

Chime in guys, I'm sure on 27000 member someone has to work in a dealer.

Thanks!

Member Arta is helping me.

Now I miss location for Italy (Greece is 0240) and check digit. And buildversion...

Come on guys, help me. At the end I will open a new topic with all infos I will have gathered.

Edit:
Westside, Bruce and the other guy who find a techguy in London.. Call your guys, I have to rebuild my file and I miss just a few infos:

a) how much important are date and time? Seems member Arta is running a VO/FA file with 2008 despite he has a 2004 car.

b) how much important is location? Could my car run with 0240 or a different location code?

Build version is month/year production, so 07/05 for me (july 05).

c) checkdigit.. Different values in two files I have: "0" and "A".

Checksum is FP for everyone.
Plus I noticed there is a code for mp3 codification as well.

Ok, I have everything except the checkdigit value. But I'm working on it and I will find it.

I will share everything with you within some days.

Thanks members Arta (!!), BenAnd and nicke60gre.

Here my file except the checkdigit and last 7 numbers of the VIN:

Ok, found: my checkdigit value is : "C" .

There is a SW that calculates the value but dealers usually don't have it. I found a guy in Denmark who has it.

Seems I'm the only one interested in it, probably because you don't know what we are talking about is: it is a file with all your accessories and you have to edit it manually (with an XML editor) if you want to retrofit something.

Mods, if you want you can move the topic to =22 forum.
