I think I noted this before but I should point out again that the G35 Automatic is 280hp and the manual is 298hp. I'm curious which one Guessvvhoo was racing...
Imagine the 545 slower than a 280hp G35 sedan...
Prior to this, I thought the better matched contender would be the new M45.

Infinity G35 (280 HP) R&T 6/05 5.9 14.4 100.6
Infinity G35 (280 HP) C&D 23/04 6.3 14.6
Infinity G35 (298 HP) MT 3/5 5.8 14.1 99.7
Infinity M45 R&T 6/05 5.3 13.8 101.4
Infinity M45 C&D 5/05 5.5 14.2 100.0
Infinity M45 MT 5/04 5.7 14.1 98.8
Infinity M45 MT11/05 5.8 14.1 99.0
The above M45's are good matches for all the cars we currently are discussing--545i's, 350Z's and G35's. Or, did you mean something else?
Anyway, like Saudi_545i stated, tests have shown that the M45 and the 545 were very closely matched with the 545 usually being on top so I had just assumed that a G35 would be moderately behind. If a G35 beats a 545 does that mean it'll beat it's supposedly more powerful, faster brother, the M45? Continuing on that note, are we to expect a 330 to outrun a 545?
I guess my point is, NO, not technically possible in a controlled environment with everyting being equal..environment, driver skills..etc... So by reasoning, I'm chalking this one up to driver skills. Guessvvhoo might be a really good racer as he stated but his friend might be a lot better....
![Whistling](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/whistling.gif)
[/quote]If you have car weights available, how about doing some lbs/HP calculations for the 35 and the M45.? The data I posted above imply that you are right about the M45 being faster than the G35 on average and under controlled conditions.
I dont Have a 545 but I walked away yesterday from a 350z with a little badge I could not read... we were crusing at about 70 when he wanted to play
so i did and pulled a good 4 if not more cars and then i shut it off.. i thought it was going t give bit more fight
then a CLK55amg that raced me last week was a fight as we stayed togehter with the metal to the pedal...but then again that is a 5.4liter v8
Also when I had my old E60 530 and G35 4 doors wanted to play, we did and barely he was gaining an inch and that is with just the 225hp engine in my car.
So unless the G35 is a stick and reacted faster than Guessvvhoo in his 545 it should be no problem to cath up and pass him as the torque in the 545 is pretty strong.. so something is fishy there
maybe he has a g35 too and he istrying to start turmoil here.. ![Cool](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)

I was thinking that originally the G35's turned in better numbers than the 350Z's. But, regardless, below is all I have on the two cars. Perhaps the Z's have the edge at least now.
Infinity G35 (280 HP) R&T 6/05 5.9 14.4 100.6
Infinity G35 (280 HP) C&D 23/04 6.3 14.6
Infinity G35 (298 HP) MT 3/5 5.8 14.1 99.7
Nissan 350Z (300 HP) R&T 3/05 5.6 14.1 101.8
Nissan 350Z (300 HP) C&D 4/05 5.8 14.3
Nissan 350Z Roadster (287 HP) MT 6/05 5.8 14.2 98.2
There are a lot of times/speeds on dragtimes.com, but I can't tell for sure what's stock and not--particularly the 350Z's.

I like to think of the 350 as a low 5 second car, but either way the e60 545 is a faster car.

Those 350z times seem pretty slow. Even though the newer models have more hp, they have less torque and have gained weight each model year. The earlier 287bhp models actually produce better times partly due to it's torque, but more so because of the weight disparity.

Again, I find it hard to believe people trying to race e60s. Pretty much the only time I've done runs is with other bmws during bmw meets.
No one bothers me and I'm not complaining about that, but maybe it's the exhaust that gets other people's attention.
I hope mine makes a comeback; 20.01.01 currently is a performance disaster for my car.

I think you meant to quote someone else, but don't upgrade if nothings wrong with the car. It's been awhile, but I think I'm running version 12 or 13.

One big advantage that we have with the 545 over the japanese cars that have similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile times is that the 545 makes alot of power throughout the rev range, not just at full boogey. I had an Acura that had an 8,000 rpm redline, it was very fast but if you got caught in the wrong gear or did not launch it well from a stop, you were dead.

If you were pissed about a G35 beating you, imagine when a Jeep Cherokee leaves us in the dust:

That's definitely a good alternative to an X5 4.8is!
