just the other week I raced my buddy in my stock 350z with his 350z with just an intake. You'd think the race would be even, but from a 10mph, 1st gear roll, he got the jump on me twice, and I was not able to catch up. On the highway though with a 3rd-4th gear pull, I eventually got about a length on him probably due to my forged rims and his heavy sound system. Just goes to show anything can happen in a race.
Not sure if anyone cares, but just raced the same 350z with the 545. Did the same 3rd-4th gear run on the freeway. At just about 3000rpm in 3rd, the e60 was dead in the water. We went to about to about 120 on an empty desolate highway and I didn't seem to be gaining much. If I was in second, it would have been a different story. With the jump that he got, part of me thinks he was in 2nd gear himself rather than the agreed upon third. The outcome doesn't really concern me though as it's all in good fun.

Interesting and fun. You don't have 20.01.00 do you? I looked back and see that you don't. Your software is from the stone age.

It most likely was a modified G35. In cornering, the BMW's got it hands down!

From 3000-4000rpm, it just took forever. The engine just didn't seem to react. I equate this to being in the wrong gear, but possibly its a software issue. The e60 does have longer gearing than the Z so it really should have been in 2nd.

I was just at the dealer for a brake fluid flush and there was no mention of software upgrades. I'm due for an oil change and new brake pads soon, so I'll probably have an upgrade then.

I'd be skeptical of the E60 corning better, actually. E60 is a big sedan, and the G35 isn't called the Skyline in other countries for nothing...

can someone please explain how this stupid thread warranted over 4000 views and 150 replies?!?!?! wow
Many of us are interested in racing and the relative performance abilities of our cars. I assume that you are not implying that those of us interested in this thread are stupid. We can be smart and like a stupid thread, right?

There are law enforcement officers who post here and read here. I advocate never using deragatory terms to refer to any others--no matter who they are, what they do, or what they ever have done.

And, the US speed limits are all across the board--anywhere from 55 to 75 MPH outside the towns and cities. So, speed limits don't determine where one might street race. "Street racing" most often refers to racing "on the streets of cities and towns" in the US--where speed limits can be much lower than 55 of course. And, in the US, "street racing" most often refers to drag racing versus road racing or top speeds.

I know, they are here but if a cop has a Bimma and spec. e60 he/she must be a good head.

Then here they are all pigs-tell ya in all the languages they call them...like that, secondly they can issue a ticket but they cannot find your stolen car

I am a lawyer and then what? I was raised on MOB movies, ey?

I agree about the good head thing, but still .... MOB as in gangster movies? When I grew up, LEOs typically were referred to as "you dirty rotten copper" by the bad guy, who usually just got shot, in the movies. Are you a Lawyer? I was in your neighborhood around Xmas, got pickpocketed in the Brussels metro. Didn't go to the Leo's though. We were accosted coming back from dinner the night before by some young criminals who didn't know what they were doing. Just a streak of bad luck. Have no bad feelings about BE. Do you know OliverB? He even offered money if we had problems without our cards, etc. Where do you live? What city, that is?

[/quote]Here are some data on the Cayenne Turbos:

Porsche Cayenne Turbo R&T 11/03 5.0 13.5 103.3
Porsche Cayenne Turbo C&D 8/03 5.0 13.5
Porsche Cayenne Turbo MT 4/05 5.1 13.6 101.8

Given these data and my pre-20.01.00 GT2 times, I would have expected our cars to be essentially even--which was true except I jumped ahead at the start. We were pretty even to about 70 MPH with him a car length or so back. He clearly was a racer-type guy--ready to go. He probably was a tad surprised.
