EXTENDED VOICE CONTROL

But doesn't this involve getting BMW AG to provide a code to you and also update your VIN profile at BMW to show that you've got this option fitted. Using this code your dealer will need to reprogram the car with the latest CIP.

I have the ex voice control and believe me its not worth having unless you speak like a 50's royal broadcaster 24/7 and always travel alone. Whenever I say "more power engine room" my wife just takes the p**s.

That was my understanding too. Basically the amount was largely "programming", rather than parts. And AFAIK there is a difference between "basic voice control" (which came as standard with the bluetooth prep) and "extended".

BTW if you have the "old" UK media package (pre Sep '05) all the parts are already there, except for the voice button next to the iDrive menu button.

It's there. I think even in cars that don't have the media package, and you can use that, but the "complete" EVC kit includes the split button.
