Your picture's background looks familiar. Where did you take the picture ?
Downtown Dallas, I am thinking.

That would be correct -- it's JDN's picture...

It looks very much like the JFK government building in Boston.

Okay I've had some time to think about all of the dangerous components of the car I hadn't previously contemplated. Thank God for you techno geeks that brought these things to my attention!!!!
I've figured out a solution for most of these obvious design deficiencies.

First I will circumcise exhaust tips and then place large condoms over them to make for safer exhausts...... supposedly they work for other things.

Second I can install a warning buzzer on the trunk lid in case the visual information of the trunk lid swinging open suddenly and unexpectedly isn't sufficient.

Third I can trim the edge of all the door frames so as to make the gap similar to a Chrysler Kcar where even a large finger couldn't be pinched in any of the door jams because the gap was so large.......... unintended safety.

Third I can put little tiny condoms over the headlight washers and make those safer.

Fourth I can put plastic moldings over the edge of the rims so as to not burn my legs on the hot rims....... well who would've thunk that you could burn your legs on car rims???!!!!

Finally there's the obvious dangers of driving which would be solved if a governor could be installed so as to limit the speed of the car to not much more than jogging speed, a speed at which it's difficult to be injured seriously even if you run flat out into a tree.

There you have it......... the ultimate safe driving machine!!!!!!!!

BRAVO!!!!! well planned , i think you have it all safe ...now enjoy your car!!!ericd

Oh and another thing to watch out for is the Trunk. It may swing open knocking you senseless if you get too close
Nah I need a sticker that says dont put coffee on top of the trunk while trying to dig for the key to open the trunk... It'll launch your cup of coffee straight over the hood and into the 3rd parking space across!

I want a refund of $4.95 from BMW now.

Look what you just put into my head! I think you're pulling my leg but I'll bite. In my case I'm gonna use a paper cup with water that way there can be zero chance of damage to the car.

Joe, in our case the M5 trunk finisher is so heavy that the trunk lid does not open as forcefully as it used to (If I'm parked uphill it barely opens half way now). So I don't think you're going to launch the cup anywhere past the rear window (unless you change the spring anchor point to the next one to create more tension).

I have an 04 530. As I reached into the trunk I managed to touch the side of my bare calf against the tip of the exhaust pipe. Mega pain and an immediate third-degree burn!!!!!!!!!

Has anybody else had this experience?

I can't believe that the car was designed with the tip of the exhaust pipe extending beyond the vertical plane of the bumper in such a way that you could touch the tip of the hot exhaust pipe with the side of your leg.

It appears that my car's exhaust pipe needs to be circumcised so as to remove this hazard. Anybody have any ideas as to how to circumcise an exhaust pipe on a German car?

I burned my leg more than 10 days ago and in all probability I will have the exact arc of the top of the exhaust pipe tip permanently displayed on the side of my calf for the rest of my life

Please give me your feedback on this issue as I really need to know whether anybody else has had this experience and whether anything has been done by BMW to remedy this dangerous situation.
I never thought someone could pull that off and talk about it... but I think it's a feature called "Active Branding" haha
