I was just wondering, if I want pick up a car using ED, would I be able to request the front european license plate not to be drilled in and/or put on?

Does anyone know details about front license plates in Europe?

i guess it's ok because some of us have a clean, w/o frame, front bumper.

They can mount the front plate with a frame so that only 2 small holes are drilled in the front so that you can put on a standard front US plate.

I am not sure how they do it on ED but they may be able to do a strong adhesive.

They wrap the long plate around the shorter US holder and use the US screws. Don't worry, they will not damage your car.

See the US holder behind the tourist plate?

My ED 545 had two nice pilot holes (plus the US plate frame holes) in the bumper from where they mounted the ED plate to the US holder with screws that were too long. It's all good, though, since I wanted to mount my ED plate when I got the car back (Here in Georgia, we don't have to have front plates) and just used the small holes to mount the ED plate directly to the bumper.

The standard EU plate frames are about 2 inches too long to fit the EU Zoll (Tourist) plate that they mount at the ED center.

My ED had two small holes, and two very small holes in the front bumper. I tried everything I could do to have them not drill the holes, but they wouldn't budge. I plugged the small holes, and just left the smaller ones - you can barely see them. The holes are set up to accept a US plate - so I wouldn't worry about that.

Good luck!
