I dont see why wouldn't some one just buy an M5 instead of this. :/ I mean the difference is in the 1-3ks

I would buy an M5, then get the ESS supercharger for the M5. If they have it, I WONT SELL THE M5!!!!

1) Because I already own my car and I'm too busy to search out a good deal on an M5.
2) Maintenance on my 550i is less than it would be with an M5.
3) My brother-in-law could put the SC kit on for no charge. He's a BMW tech.
4) I think $1 - 3K's is a slight exaggeration. I wouldn't buy an M5 with 100,000 miles on it.
5) Why not?

After you put a supercharger on the 550 I believe the maintenance costs will increase.
But yes, it would still be cheaper than an M5

The supercharger is virtually maintenance free. Maintenance costs on M cars are always higher than non-M due to the exotic nature of their design. Higher tolerances, higher performance parts, and low production numbers equate to higher cost to maintain.

The blower itself might be but the added stress to engine will certainly cause problems earlier than normal.
