My Ride: 530i
Model Year: 2006
Hi,
I'm re-posting this as I haven't had any responses from the experts on this site. Perhaps someone from BMWNA can give me some clues.
Thanks
My 530i (N52 engine) has developed a rough idle. Here are the details:
Engine cold: Idle fluctuates between 800 and 1100 for about 20 to 30 seconds then settles to about 800 revs with a small fluctuation of +-50 to 100 rev. After driving the idle settles at 600rev at stop lights.
Engine warm: Idle almost steady at 600revs. However, if you stop the car for 10 minutes or so and then restart it the idle fluctuates from 600 to 800 revs. Again after driving the car the idle is perfect at stop lights.
There are no drivability issues, hesitation or anything else. My dealer had the car for almost two days and did a software upgrade (yes I do have eyebrow lights again) to E060-12-06-510 (CIP24) and they checked reprogram the DME. Everything seems to be fine softwarewise.
Anybody else had this problem? Any suggestions? I'm thinking more along the lines of Idle Control Valve (ICV), fuel pressure regulator, sticking bi-Vanos or Valvetronic.
Thanks

I am actually having very similar problem but I'm thinking mine is caused by something to do with the injectors being dirty or coils tho since injector cleaner I added the other day helped the issue some maybe u should try checking injectors.

My Ride: 2005 MINI Cooper S - lightly modified - 2006 BMW 525i
Model Year: 0000
Recently, my car developed a slightly rough idle and some intermittent hesitation. Since it also affected the kick down when decelerating, I thought I might be getting a transmission issue. Turned out one of the spark plug coils had worn out some of the insulation around it and shorted out and was intermittently grounding against the engine block. Replaced it, and all is good again. Since my car is now 12 years old, it is probably a good time to look into replacing parts that do wear and tear over the long time, even though BMW claims they are "lifetime". Sparkplug coils, rubber mounts and bushings, shock absorbers, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires etc....as finances permit, I guess.
