We have a CPO '05 545 with the L7 system with 33k miles.

Problem 1: Usually, whenever one of the doors is opened, the normal things happen--lights come on, a slight whirring sound from somewhere. But now, on top of that, after about 5 or 6 seconds, the glove box mounted CD changer whirrs to life and sounds like it is changing the CD. I don't think this should be a normal activity. Any ideas?

Problem 2: Yesterday, in the 90+ degree Tennessee sun, the fan motor would not kick up to high when the MAX air is called for. I have checked the iDrive settings for climate to make sure the fan settings have not changed. My Ford truck used to do the opposite--would not go to low fan speed--and it required a new in-dash module. Could be vacuum leak, but with the electronics in this Bavarian Beast, I doubt the AC uses very many vacuum lines to control fan or AC.

Problem 3: About two weeks ago the bluetooth stopped operating with the RAZR my wife has, so I got into the car and started messing with the iDrive settings for communication to see if something had jumped back to a factory setting. Well nothing had, but in the time that I was fiddling with the electronics, without the car running, the low battery light came on. I immediately stopped and tried to start the car, but no luck. I let it sit overnight to cool off and was going to have to push it out of the garage because the jumper cables I have are only 12 feet long--not 15. I gave it one more try in the morning, and it slowly turned over and started. I drove around for a while to get it charged, and the Bluetooth was now working. I'm getting a new battery this week and now think that a low battery might be causing problems 1 and\or 2.

If anybody has had something like these things happen, let me know. Although it is under warranty, my wife doesn't want to be without it for too long. My luck it will be a week if there is something electrical wrong with the AC.

Thanks.

I remember "Mr. Futterman" accused germans of putting gremlins in their cars as early as 1984!

My CD changer did that for awhile, turns out the battery was nearing its end-life. I ended up replacing the battery and removing the CD magazine, since I don't use the it any way. As far as the other slight sounds, I get those too and have assumed them to be normal. Next time you take the car in, have them check the battery status. Mine is a 2004 and the battery went out in mid/late 2007.
