How to check the software version in the car?
How to check the software version in the car?
Asked a salesperson what is the latest software version in the cuurent E60 stock, her answer was "too technical" for her and changed subject <_< [/quote]
tategoi, don't waste time asking the sales person. Go ask the engineer in the workshop. By the way, I think the software version 12 remaps the ECU as I feel the driving characteristics of the car different after the update. The gear shift is much smoother especially at lower speed.

My Ride: e60 530i - SOLD!
I think Active steering got me out of the edge...
I was in a rush one of the evening last week heading toward CTE from AYE.
A slow vehicle (90kph) on extreme right, so I dropped gear and accelerate to pass him from the left, there was a nissan sunny in that lane. I intended to speed up and sneak in between to pass the car that was hogging me.
Didn't know what the sunny was doing, there was no car in front of him but he braked. I had one hand on steering wheel and one on the gear stick.
I was about 110-120kph, i did a quick zig zag and i knew my mistake was i did that on a one hand. Somehow split second later the car straighten itself and i could feel the violant G force from left and right. I could have slammed onto the rail guard that nite. I couldn't have hold on to that steering wheel to keep the direction with one hand.
Phew! close call!
OK drive safely now!
By the way, during the e60 launch and test drive in sepang, the german engineer did explain about the active steering correcting emergency over swerving!
Really didn't intend to test this one out!

My words of advice to all....DRIVE carefully. E60 has all the latest safety features...but that doesn't mean it won't crash.
That footage of the wreckage of amethyst grey e60 went up my nerve....Cheers.
