Agree! I had to live with the "musky smell" from the aircon and had to do the infamous "heat treatment" every now and then....
Did you do anything naughty in your car?

Once in a while... I did get my bitch in the front seat... dunno why but she likes to lick all over... especially the gear knob...

But I don't think that is the cause of the problem. Since Month 1 or 2, the CSA said "its typical of BMW cars"... you just have to live with it...

So bitch or no bitch... the musky smells must be from something else German....

Female German Shepherd? I wonder if the micro-filter in our aircons help get rid of any smell? Have you tried placing charcoal or tea leaves in your car? They can help absorb foul smell.

You can try buying dettol disinfectant and spray at the rear passenger foot well. There is an inlet there. The aircon vent sucks in the vapour and kills the bacteria at the condenser. Put to circulation mode.

hehee... I like it esp during the nite when the climate is cooler.. you can really feel the car pulling!
But during the hot afternoon... i am afraid too much drag will make the veins (water hoses) pop! Then engine steam steam....

I am really starting to like the E60. Its a perfect car to mod, have family, executive at work and also prestige! Not too huge for parking and also can even "Bang" with more style...
May I be the first to put my name down.....

I TOTALLY agree with you Adrian..... that's why, I am willing to make this sacrifice..... exchange yr 645 for my 525.... sure its 2 litres less than the 645 but hey, once I get those wing flaps installed (new 7.0 edition), I believe I can fly......

So what say you???

Zag,
Dun get a bmw anymore... get a if you were to get a 6... it will be a 630 which is the same engine cap as your current with abit more hp, but you will lose out on handling and extra two doors.
645.. petrol guzzler.. not meant for daily drive..
If not stick to your ride till 5 yrs. then save and go for some exotic rides with 4 doors.. maserati?

Greg,
Get the M5 mirrors lah.. looks damn fierce! you got m wheels already... might as well M all the way!

Was thinking of it but having seen the mirrors on a Black car, it doesn't really stand out.... on a white car, it looks beautiful.....maybe the lighter colours do the mirrors more justice......

Is it a high pitched or low tone whistling sound? I have a soft 2-tone low frequency sound from my aircon too.
I've lived with this for a very long time. I normally don't set the fan at high speed, maybe for the first 5 min only and then I'll have it set to min or one notchh above that. Can't stand the loud noise from the blower, wityh or w/out the high pitch
