Ed520, let me know after you change engine oil. I think it has to do with the electronics sending wrong signal to the gear shift and causing it to be confused which gear to shift to. This is a machine afterall.

my car is in the workshop to fix the steering...they let me drive a E39 520. now i can compare....the E39 is definitely quieter n less harsh than the E60 that i drive. i think this is due to non-sport sus...n normal tyres. also the gear change is creamy smooth...i m pleasantly surprise...

But...the lack of active steering is very apparent to a fault...i nearly langa the wall in the multi storey at my office.

overall u can feel the E60s technological advancement...but the E39 is still a nice ride....more so than any current E200 kompressor i m sure..

.... and with e39 520i I bet you are a very sedate driver. Is it the 2.0 liter version or 2.2liter?

They gave me the Hertz 520i 2.0 liter one and the steering and non fly by wire gas pedal are hard work.

It was a good car to begin with but sure feel very dated once you are in an e60.

toto, what happened to your steering? did you loose active steering like what happened to some initial batch E60s?

Oh. ok, that doesn't sound too bad, they should be able to fix this pretty quick rite?

Hopefully, they's sorted out the active steering problems.

Back to my fav topic....bluetooth. Just found out from a friend from across the causway, the Malaysian E60s come with bluetooth! I can't stand it.....everything here must be approved by f***ing IDA......makes us look like a buch of country bumpkins

Anyway my friend's checked that they will do the bluetooth retrofit over there. I might just take a drive up to a KL BMW dealer and get it done there, don't want to wait till stupid IDA decide to wake up.....
